HEADLINE: A Day of Dedication – Retired Bishop Jackson Matovu Commissions New Class Block at Naalya SS, Lugazi Campus
There are moments when a school’s physical growth meets spiritual affirmation. On 11th/April/2026, Naalya Secondary School Lugazi Campus, had the privilege of hosting Retired Bishop Jackson Matovu, who officially commissioned our newly constructed class block in a ceremony filled with prayer, gratitude, and community celebration.
The revered man of God, known for his decades of leadership and unwavering support for education, was received by the school administration, staff, students, and local dignitaries. Despite his retirement, Bishop Matovu’s presence brought a solemn yet joyful atmosphere as he moved through the corridors of the new facility, blessing each classroom.
In his address, Bishop Matovu emphasised the link between faith and learning. “A school that fears God will produce leaders who serve with integrity,” he said. “I commission this block not as mere rooms, but as spaces where character is moulded, questions are asked, and futures are secured under God’s guidance.” He applauded the Board of Directors and the Lugazi Campus management for prioritising infrastructure that supports both academic excellence and moral formation.
The newly commissioned class block features eight modern, well-lit classrooms, improved ventilation, and accessible washrooms. It is expected to ease overcrowding, reduce shift teaching pressures, and create a more conducive environment for both learners and teachers. Parents and the local community had eagerly awaited this expansion, which marks a major milestone for the Lugazi Campus.
The Representative of the Director Naalya Secondary Schools Dr. Mpooza JohnBaptist expressed deep appreciation to Bishop Matovu for honouring the invitation. “Your blessing today is more than a ceremony. It is a foundation. We promise to use this facility to nurture disciplined, God‑fearing, and academically strong students.” He as well encouraged the staff to embrace teaching practices that he covered in the 3H, HEAD, HEART and HANDS to build all-round students ae the Director Emphasized in his written speech.
Highlights of the event included the symbolic cutting of the ribbon, a dedication prayer led by the Bishop, and a vote of thanks from the Chairman Board Of Governors and Headteacher of Lugazi Campus. Guests later toured the new block and enjoyed light refreshments.
We invite all parents, alumni, and well‑wishers to visit Lugazi Campus and see the commissioned class block for themselves. As Naalya Secondary School continues to grow, we remain committed to our motto: For Greater Horizons.
