A delegation from Naalya Secondary Schools comprising the Namugongo, Bweyogerere, and Lugazi campuses paid a heartfelt courtesy visit to the offices of the Katikiro of Buganda, Owekitibwa Charles Peter Mayiga, at Bulange Mengo.

The visit, which took place earlier this week, was led by school administrators alongside students’ Leaders.
The highlight of the occasion came when the students’ Leaders, on behalf of their peers and the entire school community, presented the Katikiro with a stunning handcrafted art portrait of him and his wife. The portrait, rendered with remarkable detail and skill, captured the Katikiro’s dignified presence and was met with visible admiration and appreciation.

Speaking during the presentation, the students explained that the artwork was a labour of love, created entirely by the school’s art club as a token of gratitude for the Katikiro’s visionary leadership, particularly his commitment to education, youth empowerment, and the fight against HIV/AIDS through initiatives like the Kabaka’s Birthday Run.

Overwhelmed by the gesture, Owekitibwa Charles Peter Mayiga praised Naalya Secondary Schools for blending academic excellence with creative arts and cultural values. He encouraged the young artists to continue honing their talents, noting that art is a powerful tool for communication, preservation of heritage, and national development.

“This portrait is not just a gift; it is a reflection of the discipline, creativity, and respect instilled in the students of Naalya. I am deeply moved and will treasure this artwork,” the Katikiro remarked.

The school directors, in their remarks, emphasized that the visit was part of a broader effort to strengthen ties between educational institutions and the Kingdom. They reiterated that Naalya Secondary Schools remain committed to producing well-rounded students who excel academically while remaining rooted in cultural identity and social responsibility.

The courtesy visit concluded with a group photograph, warm exchanges of encouragement, and a shared prayer for the continued prosperity of Buganda Kingdom and the Kabaka.
